Fastening the thread
When you start sewing, you need to make sure to fasten the thread so that it won’t loosen when you’re done. You do this by sewing the thread over each other in one place until it’s stuck.
Stitching
If you have small holes in your clothing, you can use stitching techniques to fix it. Here’s how it works:
- Place both fabrics together.
- First, fasten the thread, then stitch by going behind the fabric, then in front of it, then behind it again, and so on.
Straight stitch
The straight stitch is generally use to stitch two pieces of fabric together. Look at the picture to see how to sew it. With the straight stitch, you need to make sure to make small stitches that are all in a straight line.
Zigzag
If you want to prevent edges from unraveling, you can use the zigzag stitch. First, you fold over the edge, then you use zigzags to fasten the fold onto the fabric.
