Description
An antique lace bodice, with silk lining and beige lace from the 1890s.
The pure linen lace is very strong, and is a mix of Irish crochet lace, bobbin lace, Maltese lace and Valenciennes lace. The high neck has bones covered with silk thread. Both sleeves have 2(!) puff sleeves, and the underarm is embellished with many pin tucks and the edges have bobbin lace ruffles. The back closure of the neck has hooks and loops and the waist has hooks and eyes. The body itself has lovely tiny mother of pearl buttons, as hidden closure.
The body has no bones, so this must be a high fashion item for that period!
The silk lining has one big hole near one underarm and there is underarm discoloration. The condition is excellent.
